The Perkins Public Works Authority approved a contract with Davis Sanitation, Inc., to begin July 1, 2020. Republic Services’ contract was expiring on June 30. In an effort to get the best price and service for our residents, the City of Perkins published a Request for Proposals. Davis Sanitation offered the lowest and best proposal.
The biggest change residents may see is a new collection day. Residential collection will now take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays, depending on the location of the home. See the image at right or paragraphs below for details.
In partnership with Davis Sanitation, there will be two curbside clean-up days between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. The first is scheduled for August 8, 2020, in conjunction with City-wide Clean-Up Day.
Residential Collection Days
Weekly trash service will continue using polycarts, which are provided by Davis Sanitation. Residential service will be Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday each week, depending upon the location of the home.
Monday service will be provided to those homes located south of East Kirk Avenue and east of Main Street (the red area on the image to the right).
Tuesday service will be provided to all homes located west of Main Street (the blue area on the image to the right).
Wednesday service will be provided to those homes located north of East Kirk Avenue and east of Main Street (the green area on the image to the right).
Commercial Collection Days
The number of times a business or other non-residential customer has requested collection determines which day(s) of the week service will be provided.
One time a week: Mon
Two times a week: Mon / Thurs
Three times a week: Mon / Wed / Fri
Four times a week: Mon / Wed / Thurs / Fri
Five times a week: Mon / Tues / Wed / Thurs / Fri

Polycarts need to be placed within five feet from the back of the curb or edge of the pavement not more than 12 hours prior to collection day. They will then need to be moved off of the right-of-way before the end of collection day.
Polycarts must be placed on the street by 7 a.m. on collection day with lid opening facing street to ensure they are serviced.
Polycarts or dumpsters in alleys need to be placed so that they are immediately accessible to collection vehicles, while allowing enough room for vehicles to pass.
Additional residential polycarts are available at a cost of $7.31 per month per polycart. Call City Hall (405-547-2445) to arrange for additional polycarts at your home or business.
Damaged or broken polycarts are replaced at no charge. Call City Hall (405-547-2445) to report a damaged or broken polycart.
For those residents who occasionally have more trash than a polycart will hold, trash bags approved by Davis Sanitation are available. The 42-gallon trash bags may be purchased at City Hall at a cost of $1.77 each or five for $8.11. These may be placed curbside with the polycart on regular trash pick-up day.
Trash service runs Monday through Friday as scheduled for all holidays, except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Please check the City’s website calendar or Facebook page or call City Hall (405) 547-2445 for how those two holidays will affect trash pick-up in your neighborhood.
Davis Sanitation can provide 30-yard construction / roll-off containers. Contact them directly at 1-800-522-6437 for pricing and further information.
